Sprint and HTC make the EVO Design 4G official

HTC EVO Design 4G will be sold with price of $99.99 USD with plans from Sprint for two year agreement. This smartphone is equipped with quite good specifications such as 4-inch qHD display, 1.2 Ghz processor, and 5 MP camera. 

Sprint has formally introduced the HTC EVO Design 4G and is set to release the fifth member of the EVO family on October 23 for the wallet friendly price of $99.99 with a two-year agreement or qualified upgrade. 

It has been almost a month since the first press photo of the HTC EVO Design 4G was revealed. The Android Gingerbread device sports a 4-inch qHD display and is powered by a single-core 1.2GHz processor. On top of the Android platform of course is HTC’s Sense user interface. The back of the handset houses a 5 megapixel camera that can record video in 720p HD while a 1.3 megapixel shooter is perched on the front. 

The EVO Design 4G was once known as the HTC Kingdom and was rumored to be called the Hero S for a while. Since this smartphone is an exclusive to Sprint, 4G speeds will be provided courtesy of their WiMax network. It is also the first handset bearing the EVO moniker to have global roaming capabilities. Given its specs the EVO Design 4G seems to be a mid-range alternative to the HTC EVO 3D and some other non-EVO devices such as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch and the Motorola PHOTON 4G.

For only $99.99 the HTC EVO Design 4G should be a solid choice if signing two years of your life away isn’t too much of a problem. The price is with a new two-year activation or a qualified two-year upgrade and after a $50 mail-in-rebate. Is anybody going to pick up the EVO Design 4G?

Motorola Droid RAZR Exposed

Motorola has released another sneak peek at its Spyder smartphone, though this time the teaser left less for the imagination. Designed as an incomplete puzzle with the missing pieces added one-by-one as the handset’s launch date gets closer, the teaser site nevertheless leaves a full image of the phone in plain view.

Nokia 603 Smartphone, with Symbian Belle OS

Nokia claims that the browser on this is up to 4x faster compared to those found on previous Symbian versions, and with the latest version of Maps, it will pave the way for free, turn-by-turn navigation in both standard and Drive views for in-car use. A 1GHz processor runs proceedings from within, where the Nokia 603 will also sport pentaband reception (WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100, GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900), Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.5″ ClearBlack display under toughened glass at 640 x 360 resolution, and apps like Microsoft Office Communicator, Quick Office, Adobe PDF reader and Vlingo.

Nokia just introduced their latest Symbian Belle-powered smartphone, the Nokia 603, in Turkey earlier today. This smartphone comes in a bevy of colors that you can see above, and it will also sport a price point that should make your accountant happy without compromising on hardware specifications and performance. The Symbian Belle interface will offer up to six home screens, while it also boasts an extended range of widgets which can be placed in just about any way you fancy.

Want to capture your memories on the go in video and photo formats? Not a problem – a 5-megapixel shooter is located behind with digital zoom, while sporting the ability to shoot 720p video at 30 fps. This handset also brings NFC (near-field communications) to the fore, although use of this technology hasn’t exactly caught on just yet among the masses. Expect to fork out around €200 for the Nokia 603 as it ships this Q4 prior to local taxes or operator subsidies.

This might be a pretty phone for the mid-range market, but it won’t put Nokia back on the map.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus to be announced October 19th

We've all been aware of the continued partnership between Samsung and Google with regard to the birth of the third Googlephone, following on from the Samsung Nexus S, for some time now. The Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus as it has more recently been known, was set to take center-stage alongside the official launch of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest edition of Google's mobile OS.

Unfortunatley, we encountered a slight snag as the Unpacked event at the CTIA conference in San Diego, intended to pose at the platform for the October 11th annoucement, was cancelled by Samsung, apparently out of respect after the death of Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs.
